First, we need to understand that there are many possibly confusing designations of Kemp Mill. As an unincorporated area in Montgomery County, Maryland, Kemp Mill does not have officially defined boundaries by Maryland authorities.
However, Kemp Mill is recognized by the United States Census Bureau as a census-designated place, and by the United States Geological Survey. Montgomery County abounds with many city-like areas that are unincorporated communities. For example, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring and Kemp Mill have no official boundaries but, may have varying designations from the United States Census Bureau, the United States Geological Survey or the United States Postal Service.
In the past, I have observed several occasions where agents entered information into the Multiple Listing Services (MLS) where they have wrongly mentioned that the listing was in Kemp Mill or, neglected to mention it was in Kemp Mill because the State Tax Data may have mislead them. So, you can not always rely on agents properly designating subdivisions in the MLS!
For all the above reasons, I took it upon myself to help my clients and customers to better understand the picture of what is the Kemp Mill Real Estate Market by defining areas.
